Family, Jackson here. The moment that everything has been building towards; the bustling super city that never sleeps: Tokyo.
We first ventured up the metropolitan tower, basking in the breathtaking view of the cityscape. The interior featured a sleek arrangement of monotone colors, foreigners from every corner (well I mean, there aren’t really corners, but whatever) of the globe, and appropriately overpriced gifts to really remind you that this is the future. Also there was an exhibit for the much anticipated Tokyo 2020 Olympics on the main floor, which cranked the hype levels to 11.
And after that, the chains were unshackled (I believe that’s a phrase), and we were exposed to the city. Everybody divided into groups and wasted no time in creating their own 馬券 (bōken). This. THIS, is a huge part of what I personally believe sets Japan apart from the United States. This sense of complete independence where each individual embarks on their own, only intertwining paths with others by fate. And they all recognize this daily procedure, so everyone respectfully keeps to themselves which supringly unifies the country in a sort of “shared goal” style. And it was nothing short of amazing to experience this on outback own. Today was awesome.
